Celebrate Canada’s 150th Birthday With The Canada 150 Fund

OTTAWA – MP for Chilliwack-Hope Mark Strahl is encouraging the local community to make use of different funding options under the Canada 150 program to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday.

“At this milestone in our country’s history it is important to remember all that we’ve achieved together as a united people. We have a rich heritage worthy of recognition and celebration,” said Strahl.

Under the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program, funding is available to rehabilitate or improve cultural and community facilities across Canada. Last year, funding of $401,300 was announced for the following projects in Chilliwack and Hope:

Hope Curling Club, $5,100 for painting of the building’s exterior;
City of Chilliwack, $225,000 to renovate the Chilliwack Landing Spray Park; and
Stó:lō Nation, $171,200 to Upgrade Stó:lō Coqualeetza cultural site buildings in Chilliwack.
To help communities celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation, the Government of Canada is working with private and volunteer sectors, other levels of government, and businesses to support a year of celebrations.
