Canada Summer Jobs Initiative puts students to work

Chilliwack—Students in Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon will gain valuable work experience this summer, as a result of the Government of Canada's Canada Summer Jobs initiative. Mark Strahl, Member of Parliament for Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon, made the announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development.

Chilliwack- Mark Strahl, MP for Chilliwack Fraser Canyon and Chair of BC/Yukon Caucus celebrated National Mining Week by recognizing the enormous contribution the industry makes to the Canadian economy.

"Our Government recognizes the important role the mining sector plays in creating jobs and prosperity for Canadians. That is why we will continue to work to attract new investment and open new markets for the Canadian mining industry," said Strahl.

Strahl announces funding for safer local railway crossings

Chilliwack- The safety of three local railway crossings will be improved thanks to funding announced by Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon MP, Mark Strahl. The Government of Canada is investing $4,400 on a railway crossing on First Street in Ashcroft, $6,350 on a crossing on Railway Avenue in Ashcroft and $5,700 on a crossing on Highway 12 in Lytton.
